Safety and Health


Recognizing that its employees are its most valuable resource, the Town of Groton takes its responsibility for employee safety very seriously. Every reasonable effort is made to provide and maintain safe facilities, equipment, materials, procedures and methods. The Town has established a Safety Committee. This committee meets quarterly to develop corrective actions to reduce accidents and injuries and to discuss ways to improve the safety and health for of all Town employees.

The Assistant Town Manager/Director of Human Resources is responsible for the development and coordination of the safety programs and occupational health and safety activities for the Town of Groton. This work involves providing consultation to departments, safety committees and to managers in identifying and resolving health and safety problems, implementing related CONN/OSHA regulations and/or programs, and coordinating the dissemination and sharing of information relative to occupational safety and health matters. The work also involves providing related technical assistance to Managers and Supervisors in the performance of accident and/or risk investigations and the development of loss reduction policies.
