Town of Groton: Notice of Public Hearing on Proposed Ordinance to Amend Voting District Boundaries (see bottom of page to links to maps of changed areas)

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in the Thrive 55+ Living Center (Groton Senior Center), 102 New Town Road Groton CT 06340, in the main room, on the following proposed Ordinance:

ORDINANCE CHANGING AND REDEFINING

THE VOTING DISTRICTS IN THE TOWN OF GROTON

The following is a summary description “Ordinance Changing and Redefining the Voting Districts in the Town of Groton”. The full text of the Ordinance, including the metes and bounds descriptions of the proposed new Districts and a map showing the existing and the proposed new District lines, is available on the Groton Town website, www.groton-ct.gov , and at the Town Clerk’s office, 45 Fort Hill Road, Groton, CT, 06340. The proposed Ordinance: includes legal descriptions of the proposed revised boundaries of the Town’s Voting Districts, which the Ordinance would revise to conform to the 2021 Plan of Congressional Districting approved by the State of Connecticut Supreme Court on February 10, 2022 and published by the State of Connecticut Secretary of State on February 10, 2022, and to enact other changes to be made thereto by the Groton Town Council pursuant to Charter § 3.7; repeals § 6.1 of the Town’s Code of Ordinances, by which the current boundaries of the Town’s Voting Districts were established and described; changes to Districts One (1),Two Three (3), and Four (4); portions of District Three (3) have moved to District Two (2); portions of District One (1) have move to District Four (4).
